Fortune, Ida Belle and Gertie look into a cold case and the investigation of a 30-year old murder leads them to the beautiful city of Santa Monica, California.
In 1986, a beautiful teenager was murdered in Sinful on Valentine's Day, just hours after witnesses saw her in the company of an older man, described as charming, tall and handsome and never before seen in the small Louisiana town. The stranger disappeared and the case was never solved.
Fortune Redding and her two senior sidekicks uncover evidence not discovered by the FBI at the time of the murder. The evidence leads Fortune, Ida Belle and Gertie down several paths, alerting the killer to their presence along the way.
The investigation leads to an explosive confrontation, placing Fortune's life in grave danger. With the clock ticking and Fortune's life hanging in the balance, it's up to Carter, Ida Belle and Gertie to save the day.
Here is what recent readers said about "Fortune and Fame":
JB: I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked up this book. I'm from Louisiana, so when I saw this book was set there, before I started I was thinking "please don't write us wrong". The more I started reading and I started roaring with laughter. And not only are they perfectly written southern grannies, they ride around in a beater Cadillac solving crimes with an ex CIA operative. I was cracking up at their antics the entire book.
Theresa: Wildly enthralling story. The Geritol Mafia and Fortune get themselves into some real predicaments trying to catch a woman milking rich lonely men dry and leaving them. This is a quick read. Once you start, you will not be able to put the book down until the end. A very good laugh out loud leave you guessing until the end of the book.
