Graves was born & educated in England. He first became known as a poet after WWI, in which he fought & was severely wounded. He achieved international fame with his memoir GOOD-BYE TO ALL THAT, after which he moved to Majorca with his second wife, the writer Laura Riding. During WWII he lived & worked in America. Since then, he has returned with his present wife, Beryl, to Majorca where he continues to write & swim in the Mediterranean every day. He has written over 130 books, including poetry, criticism, translations & novels, among them the classic historical novel, I, CLAUDIUS.
