No, you haven't gone through a time warp. You're visiting the annual Almost Authentic Elizabethan Spring Faire in Empty Creek, Arizona. All the townspeople are turned out in doublet and hose to relive the revelry of a lively era. Bawdy bards abound, minstrels make music, wanton wenches cavort with lusty cavaliers, and anyone who misbehaves may be sent summarily to the stocks. But more than mischief is afoot at the fairgrounds. When "Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth" is assassinated in the dark of night, her crown passes to Penelope Warren, bookstore owner and amateur sleuth extraordinaire.
