Why hasn't this series been made into a BBC series? Inspector Bonaparte is a half caste Australian detective in the 1940-50's Australia. Despite the series being written more than 50 years ago the prose is still current, the characters are interesting and unique. There is no formulaic writing here. Each story stands alone and has a complex well thought out plot. Interesting characters, plots and satisfying endings/ no cobbled together finals because the author wrote himself into the corner or got tired of the book and wrote whatever to finish.
